Douglas Fir was made in the mid 1990s. The original version is a cassette talking toy. However, he did not have a built in cassette player. He has a cable that connects to a regular cassette player. He works in a very similar way to Grandpaw and Grandmaw AG Bear (both of which I am not really a fan of). He came with one tape. I don't think there were any other tapes released for him. When he is not connected to a cassette player, he can sing three Christmas songs.
Douglas Fir was released three times after, without the cassette feature. There was also a few other talking trees in the line, such as Chris, meant to be a small boy, two female trees, and a wreath. To my knowledge, none of them had the cassette feature.
I really like these. I had owned the original with the cassette in the past.
