Once, a very long time ago, I had collected information and pictures of talking toys on the Internet. My goal was to make a near complete database of the thousands of talking toys made from the 1880s to the 2000s. The information is now lost, as my computer was broken. I am now collecting this information again. However, I had collected pictures of many rare toys I cannot find any longer. I would like assistance. If anyone has these toys, please provide a picture and information on them.
1. My Talking Friend
My Talking Friend was a talking doll. She is listed in the 1990s Toy Fair documents that are uploaded to YouTube by the user blueoctopede. I once saved pictures of her. My memory of her is not so good, but I believe she had blond hair and blue eyes. She was an obvious knockoff of Cricket, even her cassette player was very similar. I think, perhaps she had X, O and Triangle marks instead of coloured buttons? Her animation looked to be much better than Cricket, as it appeared that she could blink her eyes.
If you have ANY cassette talking doll that is not Cricket/Corky/Jill, Susie Scribbles or Patty Playpal, especially if she fits my description, please provide pictures and information!
2. Unknown talking Teddy Bear
I don't even remember the name of this bear. He was dark brown, and his mouth (and probably his eyes?) was animated. What was very interesting about this bear, was he had a light up nose. It was red, and had a small bulb inside it.
His cassette player was white, I believe. I once saw him on eBay. He had no tape. I would love to know his name! If you have him, please provide pictures and information!
3. Unknown talking Teddy Bear
This one was part of a lot on eBay, many years ago. He was chocolate brown, darker than Teddy Ruxpin but not as dark as the above bear or Gabby Bear. He was slightly darker than Teddie Talkins/Jabbee Bear. He was smaller than Teddy Ruxpin. He was wearing blue overalls. I don't remember his cassette player very well. Perhaps it was similar to Talking Alf?
There are so many obscure cassette talking toys. I wonder exactly how many were made. If you own or have saved a picture of any of these toys, please respond! Thank you!
